The Air Jordan 3 Retro '88 is a special edition release that celebrates the 25th anniversary of Michael Jordan's iconic free-throw line dunk in the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest. The shoe features a white tumbled leather upper and utilizes the signature Cement Grey elephant print on the toe and heel. What made this release truly special and limited was the return of the original "Nike Air" branding on the heel tab, a detail that had not been seen on a general release of the Air Jordan 3 since the 1994 retro. The "Fire Red" is present only on the underside of the tongue (on the Jumpman logo) and on the stitching of the tongue itself, while the black accents the midsole. The release also featured the time 3:51 PM on the tongue label, the precise time of the iconic dunk.
