The Air Jordan 5 Retro 'Doernbecher' (633068-010) was designed by 12-year-old Isaac Arzate as part of the 2012 Doernbecher Freestyle program, though it was released in 2013. Isaac tragically passed away during the design process, and his family helped finalize the design in his honor. The shoe features a glossy black patent leather upper with tonal (same-color) text across the material. This text is a poem Isaac wrote the day before his passing, which is only visible when the shoe is exposed to blacklight (UV light). Other personalized details include his baseball and basketball numbers, his initials, and his birth and passing dates on the inner tongue tags. The shoe also includes glow-in-the-dark accents on the translucent side netting, outsole, and the "shark teeth" on the midsole. The pair typically included a special UV flashlight accessory to reveal the hidden details.
