This sneaker is a special edition of the original Black/Red (Bred) colorway, famously known as the "Banned" edition. It is constructed from premium leather and follows the classic color blocking with Black and Varsity Red panels, and a white midsole. What makes the 2011 "Banned" release unique are the commemorative details: a large, tonal Red "X" is embossed on the heel of each shoe. The insoles feature a graphic message stating, "On October 18th, 1985, They Were Thrown Out Of The Game," referencing the date the NBA supposedly fined Michael Jordan for wearing the original Black/Red shoes. This pair also features the original "Nike Air" branding on the tongue tag.
