This "Bred" (Black and Red) colorway is legendary. It is famously referred to as "Banned" because the original 1985 version, which featured mostly red and black with no white, was allegedly banned by the NBA for violating the league's "uniformity of uniform" clause, resulting in a $5,000 fine for Michael Jordan every time he wore them on court (a story Nike used heavily in its marketing). This 2016 release uses the classic Black and Varsity Red color blocking on a premium leather upper, staying true to the Chicago Bulls team colors that became synonymous with Michael Jordan's early career.
