Because the pandemic prevented new patient-designers from meeting with Nike staff in 2021, the brand instead created this "What The" edition to celebrate the program's history. The shoe incorporates design elements from 14 previous Doernbecher Air Jordan releases, resulting in a complex, multi-colored patchwork appearance. Laser-engraved graphics on the heel and sockliner nod to the Freestyle program. Each of the 17 pairs is individually numbered on the medial side. The sneakers were delivered in a custom laser-etched wooden box and accompanied by a special pull-over hoodie.
