The Air Jordan 6 "Doernbecher" was designed by 12-year-old patient Jordan Dark for the 2009 Nike Doernbecher Freestyle Collection. The collection is a collaboration between Nike and the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, where patients design shoes to raise money for the hospital. The shoe features a Midnight Navy suede upper with Varsity Red and White accents. Unique and personal details include "06" and "08" embossed on the side panels, representing the beginning and end of the designer's chemotherapy treatments. The gold accents, particularly on the tongue's neoprene shroud and the heel pull tab, give it a premium finish.
